Class Description:

Improvisation is an important skill for everyone not just performers. Improvisation helps young people
work through the difficulties of group dynamics. The “yes and” approach to improv builds teamwork and
collaboration! The improvisational approach makes participants deeper, more active listeners.
Improvisation ensures that participants are open and tolerant. Improvisation tweaks people’s creativity
and allows for the taking of risks.
Improv teaches that sometimes things can be messy and sometimes things fall apart. This is an
important building block in resilience. After the last year and a half, we all recognize the need for
resilience. Ultimately, improvisation helps builds creative, engaged, assertively confident individuals that
work collaboratively and create safe spaces for each other. Improv helps build community.
