Call for Board Member

 

Position:  Board Member

Position Type: Volunteer

 

Tasks

As a board member, you will contribute to the strategic development of our organization in alignment with the artistic direction and values, ensuring the potent and sustainable development of Nose Creek Players through ethical, community-focused, and artist-centered governance practices.

 

  • Prepare for and participate in all scheduled board meetings.

  • Participation in committee work of the board:

  • Assist in sourcing new donors.

  • Attendance at fundraising events.

  • Promote and communicate NCP mission, activities, services and needs to the community:

  • Leverage personal skills, abilities and networks to advance the organization’s mission.

  • Keep abreast of issues and trends that may impact NCP's operations.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of any information given to board directors.

  • Avoid and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

  • Support the onboarding of committee members, directors, and stage managers.

  • Ensure NCP is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Understand and monitor the organization’s financial affairs, including approving the annual budget.

 

Time Commitment

 Five to eight hours per month:

  • Preparation for and attendance at all Board meetings (the Board averages one two-hour meeting per month)

  • Additional work for Board projects and committee work, as required.

  • excellent communication and listening skills

  • ability to work as a team and share ideas and also work independently on tasks assigned outside of scheduled meetings

  • ability to attend board meetings as required

Initial Screening

  • Participation in a position-specific interview with the Board of Directors

  • A short statement of interest that describes your relevant experience and why you would like to join our Board. (Maximum 250 words)

Probation

Board members are subject to 6 months' probation.

Position Commences: June 30, 2024

Probation ends: December 30, 2024
